How to Choose the Best Wedding Photographer with Any Budget

Updated: Jul 23, 2022

Your wedding photos are your most treasured memory of the wedding day. As soon as you get the photos, you'll share them, you will look back on them in 50 years, you review them with your children and grandchildren, remembering your vows and kiss, and all the memorable moments. It is crucial to find a photographer who knows and feels your vision and desire for your wedding photos and can deliver it professionally. Then, when you start searching for a wedding photographer, you are looking for a person you can trust and be sure that he/she takes your desired photos.

Some brides don't know what qualities they should look for when picking a photographer or video creator for their wedding. Some young couples, regardless of their budget, are confused if they should look for the desired photographer or an inexpensive one.

In a series of posts, I'll cover the key concerns that many young couples have when selecting a wedding photographer, and I'll do my best to clarify them.

The first concern that I want to address here is the budget. However, budget is not the most extensive issue for all couples, it is one of the most effective ones. The relationship between your budget and selecting the photographer appears to be obvious; more experienced and professional photographers are expensive, so many young couples already know they can't afford to employ them and instead search for the other available options and offers.

But is it as simple and clear as I mentioned? The answer is: NO

When new couples ask my view on it, I always tell them that having some high-quality images is preferable to having hundreds of photos that you don't enjoy looking at. Let's be honest, after a few years, most brides don't look back on all hundreds of photos they took on the wedding day. They look at a few good images that best capture the wedding day and the couples' emotions. So I always suggest people hire a photographer who can capture those precious photos. Even to be more extreme, I suggest hiring a photographer who takes that single photo which the couple frame and hangs on the wall or keeps on the table for years. If you can find a photographer who can take that single dreamed photo he/she can take many more good photos of you also. Maybe you can't afford a professional photographer for all day but with a budget that you hire any photographer, you can hire an experienced photographer for only a few hours.

Although, most professional photographers are busy during the high season or on weekends, many of them accept taking photos for a cheaper price if your wedding is not on weekend. according to my experience, the couple who get married during the off-season or on a weekday can get very good discounts from all vendors.

Furthermore, many couples, in my experience, avoid chatting to photographers and taking advantage of the complimentary consultations that most photographers provide. This detracts from their ability to choose the ideal photographer for their wedding and leads them into potential pitfalls that they are unaware of.

To summarize; 1) always focus on the quality of your photos rather than the quantity. 2) Consider how much money you can save if you reschedule your wedding, especially for elopements because there is no obligation on the guests to be free.

3) never give up the chance to speak with an experienced photographer as they often have special unlisted discounts on the website for the clients. Talking to a photographer doesn't mean you have to hire them.
