What to Consider When Planning Your Wedding?

Updated: Jun 1

Many couples choose to plan their weddings, even though hiring a professional wedding planner makes it much easier to walk down the aisle. The process of wedding planning could be fun and add to the wedding memories, but it can also be tiring, and often when it comes to scheduling the wedding day, exhaustion and lack of experience might show. Throughout the many years that I have worked as a wedding photographer and film-maker, when I interview the couple before the wedding and inquire about their wedding day plan, I have observed a few typical issues that I try to mention:

1- A rather long gap between getting ready and the ceremony

When a couple, especially a bride, begins getting dressed too early, it may be too early for them to leave their home for the location of the ceremony. The couple should keep in mind that if they want to stay energized all day and spend it mingling with their guests, they should use as little energy as possible on the morning of the wedding. They ought to have a decent night's rest, a substantial breakfast, and a stress-free start to the day.

2- Choosing the worst time of the day to take the bridal photos

Enjoying nature and sunlight is a wonderful option for your couple's and bridal party photos if the weather isn't too awful and it isn't storming. It takes more than simply having free time to enjoy the outdoors and the sun; you also need the right lighting. The wedding photos can be significantly improved by having adequate lighting. I won't tell you what time of day is ideal for taking pictures because every photographer has their tastes and styles. However, you must first discuss this with your photographer or filmmaker. Remember that your wedding day will be captured in images for years to come. So let us make it as pleasant as we can.

3- Neglecting to give enough time for the wedding photo shoot

I've seen plenty of couples who thought they had their wedding day all planned out until they had to figure out when to take the couple's photos. It should be obvious that hiring a wedding photographer or videographer without documenting the couple's love journey is a waste of money, and I can't think of any couple that would do that. So, my advice is to give your photographer adequate time to capture images or films after getting their advice on the best time by contacting them. Good photography typically takes more time than you may imagine.

4- General recommendation

Be aware that there may likely be numerous aspects you are unaware of if you are new to wedding planning. The best course of action, as I've suggested in the piece below, is to have a free consultation with your photographer and speak to other vendors to benefit from their experience and expertise.
